The Snows of Kilimanjaro (1952) is a romantic adventure film directed by Henry King and starring Gregory Peck, Susan Hayward and Ava Gardner. The film follows writer Harry Street, who, while on safari in Africa, suffers from a severe infection and reflects on his life, loves and career as he faces the possibility of death. Notable for its adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's short story, the film was a critical and commercial success, becoming the third highest-grossing film of 1952 and earning two Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction.
